Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin (Mom's Take)
Officially this is our first selection for our reading club, and it was selected by Audrey.
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a Newbury Award winner, is a book written by a Chinese American and honors the Chinese fable style of story telling. It is a tale of a young girl who sets off on a journey to lessen the hardships of her parents. On the journey she learns many lessons, lessons she did not know she needed. In some ways it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

Where the mountain meets the moon (Daughter's take)
Where the mountain meets the moon is such an inspiring book, all of the Asian folk tales that Grace Lin weaves into the book all make sense and add a sense of depth to this book. I loved the part where Minli realizes the true secret to pursue a happy life. The adventures that Minli and Dragon take gives the reader a mind boggling and emotional book to put on their reading list.
